21 Aug Charlotte & James’ Castle & Barn May Wedding
Well wedding venues don’t get more wow than an actual castle! For Charlotte & James it was the beautiful setting of Skipton Castle where they married back in May on a lovely sunny spring day. Despite the epic venue it was a very relaxed, rustic and wild feeling for the day. We incorporated lots of seasonal spring flowers and my favourite piece of the day has to be Charlotte’s flower crown, or maybe I just love it so much because of the fab image below from Bloom Weddings Photography. Just a perfect moment captured, love it!
The ceremony was followed, after a little excursion up and over the Yorkshire Dales, in The Cruck Barn at the Craven Arms in Appletreewick. This barn was the perfect fit after the beautiful and historic castle. The atmosphere inside the Cruck barn is full of character and unique to anything I’ve ever experienced. The barn shape comes from its huge and tall A frame oaktruss which supports a traditional heather thatched roof. There is also a massive open fire, which was definitely not needed on this warm day (hard to believe whilst I sit writing in August with a wooly jumper on and rain pelting at the window). The space is beautiful; packed full of history but also simple in materials and design. Oh and the flowers! We carried on the wild and rustic blooms into the barn and a feeling of just picked and gathered using lots of seasonal flowers such as; bluebells, tulips, lilac, ranunculus and hellebores.
Many thanks to the wonderful Bloom Weddings Photography for the lovely images below. It was great to work with you again!
